Adult Social Care Survey for Self-Funders

Date posted: 5th March 2026

The Department for Health and Social Care (DHSC) are currently exploring the care journey for people who self-fund to understand how to better support individuals and families when looking for care.

Minister for Care, Stephen Kinnock, has expressed interest in improving this experience, we are therefore running a survey to hear from people with lived experience of looking for care (either for themselves or someone else) - the survey can be found by following the link below.

Insights from the survey will help to consolidate understanding and identify gaps where policy changes could make a real difference.

DHSC are seeking views on:

  • Support individuals received to help them or their family member identify the care package required
  • What information and advice assisted individuals to support their care choices
  • What influences and criteria affected the decision of the provider selected
  • What support could improve individuals experience.

The survey will close on Friday 27th March. It takes about 10 minutes to complete.
