Joint Committee of Clinical Commissioning Groups - 3 September 2020

Date posted: 28th August 2020

COVID-19 Update – Joint Committee of Clinical Commissioning Groups.

Clinical Commissioning Groups (CCGs) are NHS organisations that plan and buy healthcare for their communities. The Joint Committee of Clinical Commissioning Groups (JCCCG) is a meeting of the CCGs in Lancashire and South Cumbria and will be responsible for making decisions about any future proposals referred to it by the CCGs. Decisions will be referred to this committee if they require a Lancashire and South Cumbria approach, but most decisions about healthcare will continue to be taken locally.

The Joint Committee of Clinical Commissioning Groups consists of GPs and lay members from each of the Clinical Commissioning Groups in Lancashire and South Cumbria. Chief Executives from Lancashire County Council, Blackburn with Darwen Council, Blackpool Council, representatives from district Councils and local Healthwatch attend the meetings.

Whilst under normal circumstances the public are able to attend formal meetings of the Joint Committee of Clinical Commissioning Groups (JCCCGs),  which is held in public, Government social isolation requirements constitute ‘special reasons’ to avoid face to face gatherings, as permitted by legislation. Therefore, until further notice all meetings of the JCCCGs will be held virtually by default with no live stream available. The agenda, papers and minutes for formal meetings of the committee will continue to be published on the Healthier Lancashire and South Cumbria website as normal.

Regarding public questions, we are happy to continue to take any questions received electronically concerning specific agenda items, however we may need to defer any questions should the focus of the meeting need to be re-prioritised at short notice as a result of the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic.

Between May and July, Joint Committee of CCG members have held informal virtual meetings which covered topics related to the NHS response to the COVID-19 pandemic and system development in response to national guidance.

The next Joint Committee of CCGs meeting will take place on Thursday 3 September 2020 - 1-3pm.

Click here for meeting agenda and papers. Please note: there will be an additional paper which will be added to the agenda pack on Tuesday 1 September for item 5a.

If you have any questions to put to the JCCCGs relating to items on the agenda for the meeting on Thursday 3 September 2020, please forward these in advance by 5pm on Wednesday 2 September 2020 to healthier.lsc@nhs.net.

A response will be sent directly to the individual who raised the question.
