Dr Amanda Doyle, current Chief Officer of Lancashire and South Cumbria ICS, has been appointed by NHS England and NHS Improvement as the new Regional Director for the North West.

Amanda will replace Bill McCarthy, who retires as Regional Director at the end of July. She will leave her roles as Chief Officer for Blackpool CCG, Fylde and Wyre CCG, West Lancashire CCG and as the lead for the integrated care system in Lancashire and South Cumbria.

Speaking of her new appointment Amanda said:

“I’m really pleased to be joining the NHS North West Regional team at a time when I hope my experience of system working, primary care, and tackling health inequalities will help with some of the challenges we face. Deciding to leave my roles within Lancashire and South Cumbria was not an easy decision to make as I will be leaving behind fantastic teams of people who are dedicated to improving the health and wellbeing of our local population, as well as a partnership that will be central to the future success of the NHS and the wider health and care sector within Lancashire and South Cumbria. I am however delighted that I will be able to continue to play a role in leading the NHS across the North West.”

David Flory CBE, Independent Chair for Lancashire and South Cumbria Integrated Care System, said:

“I have only worked closely with Amanda for a relatively short period of time but the impact of her outstanding leadership in Lancashire and South Cumbria was evident to me from the very start.

The whole of Amanda’s career has been spent serving the public as a GP and a leader within the NHS and the partnership across health and care. I personally would like to thank her for her leadership and dedication. We wish Amanda well in her new role with NHS England and NHS Improvement and are pleased that her leadership across the North West will continue to benefit people across Lancashire and South Cumbria.”

Amanda Pritchard, Chief Operating Officer at NHS England and NHS Improvement is pleased to welcome Amanda and said:

“Amanda Doyle is a leader of great integrity, determination and compassion, as we take the next important steps forward in the development of our health and care system, I know these qualities will be vital as she takes on the role of Regional Director for the North West.”

Amanda will leave her roles in Lancashire and South Cumbria in August 2021.
