Know Your Risk pop up stalls for Type 2 Diabetes Prevention Week

Date posted: 2nd April 2019

During Type 2 Diabetes Prevention Week (1st - 7th April), the Strategic Clinical Network team will be attending health and community venues across Lancashire and South Cumbria to speak to people about their risk of developing Type 2 diabetes and what they can do to reduce or even prevent this condition.

The Diabetes UK ‘Know Your Risk’ process identifies peoples risk of developing Type 2 diabetes over the next 10 years. By answering a few simple questions about themselves people can find out whether they are at risk of developing Type 2 diabetes. Those who are found to be at moderate or high risk of developing Type 2 diabetes are encouraged to follow up with their GP and provided with information on lifestyle changes. Those at low and increased risk are signposted to information on maintaining a healthy lifestyle and how to make changes which may reduce the risk of those perceived to be 'increased risk'.

We will be talking about the causes and complications of Type 2 diabetes, as well those members of the community who are at an increased risk. The team will also be able to provide information on the support available through the NHS Diabetes Prevention Programme – Healthier You.
