High profile executive roles sought for NHS Lancashire and South Cumbria Integrated Care Board

Date posted: 8th December 2021

The NHS in Lancashire and South Cumbria is looking to appoint four executive roles, including Medical Director and Chief Nurse to the NHS Lancashire and South Cumbria Integrated Care Board, a new NHS organisation which is proposed to be established from April 2022 as part of national legislation and the developments of the Lancashire and South Cumbria Health and Care Partnership.

All four roles will play a significant part in supporting the development and delivery of the long-term plan of the Integrated Care Board (ICB) and ensure it reflects and integrates all of the relevant partner organisations of the ICB. Each individual will be responsible for developing strategy and providing leadership within their own specialism across the partnership with the Chief Nurse role expected to demonstrate a compassionate and inspirational leadership style for nursing and the Chief Finance Officer required to ensure the ICB meets the financial targets set by NHS England and NHS Improvement.

The NHS Lancashire and South Cumbria Integrated Care Board is proposed to form part of the Lancashire and South Cumbria Health and Care Partnership in the future, which brings together health and care organisations, local government and the voluntary and community sector. The development of integrated care builds on partnership working over a number of years and aims to improve population health, tackle health inequalities and help the NHS support broader social and economic development.

As part of the new legislation, the NHS Lancashire and South Cumbria Integrated Care Board will take on the CCGs’ functions and broader strategic responsibility for overseeing healthcare strategies for the system.

David Flory, Independent Chair for Lancashire and South Cumbria Integrated Care System, said: “We are seeking exceptional candidates for these key appointments within our executive team and the successful individuals will play an important role in shaping improvements in health and care across Lancashire and South Cumbria in the future subject to the proposals to national legislation.”

“Around 2 million people live in the Lancashire and South Cumbria area and they deserve the very best people to represent them and their health and care needs, and as such we want to appoint highly experienced, skilled and committed individuals. These are high-profile roles, providing the successful candidates with an exciting opportunity to develop the overall values, strategy and direction at the very start of our ICB journey.”
