Although they remain separate statutory organisations, the three NHS organisations on the Fylde Coast are working very closely together, along with Blackpool Council and Lancashire County Council, to make sure people living across the region receive the best possible care in the most efficient and cost-effective way.
Our population
The are 352,000 people in Blackpool, Fleetwood, Thornton-Cleveleys, Poulton-le-Fylde, Garstang, Great Eccleston, Over Wyre, Lytham St Annes, Kirkham, Wesham, and the surrounding villages.
Understanding our people is vital to providing the best quality health and care services for the region and maintaining a strong relationship with the population that we serve.
The Fylde Coast has the largest proportion of people aged 50+ in Lancashire and one of the lowest percentages of people under the age of 15 in the county.
Blackpool has larger levels of deprivation compared to Fylde and Wyre and other areas of the country. Life expectancy for both men and women is lower in Blackpool than Fylde and Wyre and also the national average.
There is a significantly smaller percentage of ethnic minority groups compared to the rest of the North West, England and Wales.
