Lancashire and South Cumbria to receive multi-million pound social care investment to ease NHS winter pressures

Lancashire, Blackpool and Blackburn with Darwen and Cumbria will receive a combined £9,693,475 as part of a programme to help local authorities alleviate winter pressures on the NHS, getting patients home quicker and freeing up hospital beds across England.

Patients with diabetes across Lancashire and South Cumbria to benefit from new devices to help manage their condition


​All 8 NHS Clinical Commissioning Group (CCG) in Lancashire and South Cumbria have passed two new clinical policies which mean patients with diabetes will now have consistent access to insulin pumps and glucose monitoring devices.

The NHS Online Orb is being developed for NHS England and brings together medical information in one easy-to-use app, which can also help patients to manage their own medical conditions.

People living in Lancashire and South Cumbria have been asked to have their say on the future of NHS services. Following the Government’s announcement of an extra £20.5billion of funding for the NHS across the UK over the next five years, NHS bosses want to plan how to use that money to improve services.
