The Lancaster Health Festival is set to return in July 2022!

Date posted: 20th April 2022

The Health Festival will return on Thursday 7th July 2022 to a more traditional, face-to-face, setting, following previous years which relied heavily on digital platforms to host events.

Ian Dewar, Lead Organiser, announced:  "It’s fantastic to once again be arranging events in our public spaces. There is such an appetite to see the Health Festival return this year, we've had lots of people get in touch asking about taking part.”

“This year we have also expanded and are now known as ‘The Bay Health Festivals’! The Bay Health Festivals have one very simple aim: to create spaces and opportunities for people to have conversations – easy or difficult – with family, friends, neighbours, and with ourselves. We want these conversations to help us make simple changes that will have a big effect: rediscovering the art of living well. We feel this is more important than ever given the current pandemic and questions it raises around resilience.”

"We will be announcing more details of the activities and events as these become finalised, at the moment I'd simply ask people to save the date and check the website."

Claire Muir, Transformation and Change Lead, added "NHS colleagues are most often called to help those who are already unwell, however it's important that we all acknowledge that health doesn't begin when we speak to the receptionists at our GP practices or in hospital - we can all improve our health wellbeing by making positive decisions every day. The Health Festival is a fantastic example of health services and local people coming together to share a space to talk, to learn and to support one another as we try to become happier, healthier communities."

This year's Bay Health Festivals is set to be the biggest so far; in 2021 there were 1,500 visitors to the festival in Dalton Square, more than 20,000 engagements on Facebook and almost 300 tickets sold for various events.

Alongside the main festival held 7th – 10th July In Lancaster, there are a number of school days, as well as a festival in Barrow on the 9th July; and “The Bay Wrap” competition. Information on the Health Festival can be found at https://www.thebayhealthfestivals.org.uk
