Health and social care myth busting event: 'jobs that change lives’

This will be held at West Lancs College on Friday 6 May 10am to 12noon on the health and social care corridor.

The purpose of the event is to challenge misconceptions and preconceived ideas around jobs in this sector. It is to provide an immersive experience to challenge mindsets and open up routeways into local jobs.

There will be six rooms, each with a different theme and activities taking place. So far we have categorised them as follows:

  • Room 1: aspirational roles
  • Room 2: personal care/domiciliary care
  • Room 3: Support roles/teaching assistant
  • Room 4: Variety of roles across the sector
  • Room 5: Variety of roles across the sector
  • Room 6: Childcare/alternative roles

Future you roadshow

This will be held at West Lancs College on Tuesday 9 June and is aimed at adult learners or adults in the community wanting to enhance or receive support with their career goals. It will run from 2pm to 7pm and the college will be open to ‘non-students’ after 4.30pm.

From 4.30pm to 6.30pm there will be a jobs fair pulling in a full cross section of the local labour market.
