Lancashire and South Cumbria NHS Foundation Trust (LSCFT) Mental Health Crisis Line

If you need urgent help as you are in mental health distress, then there is always someone you can call.

The Mental Health Crisis line is staffed by trained mental health professionals who are able to provide assessment and referrals to appropriate services – ring it if you need to access services or for advice about someone who needs treatment/support.

Age UK

Age UK can help older people who are at home and need a little extra support with their wellbeing.

The Campaign Against Living Miserably (CALM) works to prevent male suicide and offers support services for any man who is struggling or in crisis.

Support for children and young people who are grieving and specific advice in relation to COVID-19.

First Step - South Cumbria

First Step South Cumbria is part of Lancashire & South Cumbria NHS Foundation Trust and provides free, talking therapies to adults (18+) in South Cumbria.

First Step can help with a range of common mental health problems including mild to moderate depression, anxiety disorders (such as chronic worry, panic attacks, health anxiety and obsessions), anger or sleep problems.

Growing Well

We provide activity-focussed, practical mental health support and training to people in South Cumbria and North Lancashire through volunteer work, confidence-building courses, and horticulture training at out organic fruit and vegetable farm near Kendal. We welcome self-referrals as well as referrals from health professionals.

The Lancashire and South Cumbria NHS Foundation Trust Wellbeing and Mental Health Helpline is a freephone, out of hours, person-centred listening environment for people requiring emotional support in relation to their own mental health or that of someone they know.

Mindsmatter

Welcome to Mindsmatter - we are a wellbeing service offering a range of free psychological therapies to people aged 16 and over in Lancashire. We are part of the nationwide Improving Access to Psychological Therapies (IAPT) service delivered by Lancashire and South Cumbria NHS Foundation Trust.

All treatment is FREE and provided by the NHS and their partners.

MyTime Cumbria (Barnardos) Primary Care Mental Health Service

MyTime has put in place a new model of working throughout Cumbria, to provide support during the COVID-19 Pandemic. All new referrals will have a Primary Assessment Meeting online, through an approved platform, or by telephone as part of a three-stage process.

The administration team will continue to allocate assessments as referrals are received. Those who are currently receiving a service will continue via telephone. Young people who have been contacted are continuing their interventions with the practitioners allocated to them.

Organisation which helps people who suffer from panic attacks, phobias, OCD, and other related anxiety disorders.

Support for those dealing with suicide, depression or emotional distress – particularly teenagers and young adults.

SAFA Self Harm Awareness for All Support Service

From Monday 13th April 2020, SAFA Cumbria will be using a team of trained counsellors to provide telephone support for ANYONE in Cumbria who is anxious, isolated or worried about COVID-19. Your details will be taken, a counsellor will then be assigned who will call you back. All calls are confidential, and we only need your first name and a contact number.

The mix is an under 25’s helpline, online, social or telephone service for any challenges young people might be facing - from mental health to homelessness or money problems.
